Word for Word translation
We've been using the Word for Word translation of the Tao Te Ching in our monthly meetings for four years now. It works very well. I still find minor grammar and punctuation issues to reconsider, but overall I feel it is no longer a 'work in progress'. Interestingly, it takes newbies to the group a short while to adapt to the idiosyncrasies that come with a more literal translation. Even so, they soon find comfort.
